Thanks! Hmmm, I don’t really have many “normal days” unless I’m knee-deep in the middle of writing a new book. If that’s the case, most of my day is taken up with writing, whether at home or at the office or waiting in the car for my son or wife. When I’m not in the middle of a book, my days usually consist of answering emails, returning phone calls, a lot of reading (for business and pleasure), and the occasional sit-down at my laptop to write.

You just published "Gwendy's Magic Feather", whose first part you wrote hand in hand with Stephen King. What are we going to find in this sequel?

I would be excited by either médium, but I think Gwendy has a lot of stories to tell, so a televisión series would probably be a natural fit. A very prominent production company has optioned the first book, so hopefully we will have some news in 2020.

There will be a third volume in the Gwendy series at some point, so hopefully Steve and I will write that one together. It all comes down to our schedules and finding the time to sit down and write it. I would love to write with Steve again. Anytime and anything.

In addition to writing, you have an editorial, Cemetery Dance Publications, specializing in the horror genre. How much satisfaction does it give you to publish such good authors?

A great deal of satisfaction. Editing and publishing Cemetery Dance has always been a labor of love, for over 30 years now. We’ve worked very hard to publish the best of the newer writers side-by-side with the “big names” of horror and suspense, folks like Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Peter Straub, Ray Bradbury, and dozens of others. It’s always rewarding to hear back from excited readers when they discover a new author.

Just getting better at all of the above. Learning, growing, taking chances, and doing the things that make me happy and bring me peace. Spending time with my family and friends. That’s the dream.

I’m just starting a new book, but that probably won’t be published until 2021. Let’s see…this year I have a mini-collection coming out from Borderlands Press, a handful of new short stories, and my son Billy and I will hopefully be making another movie this summer. I published four books in 2019, so it will be nice to slow down a little this year.

My pleasure, thanks for asking me. I am very happy. It’s been a long road in life, finding peace and contentness, finding balance. I tend to learn the hard way (understatement), but the journey has certainly been worth it.
